What We Believe
We believe in the infinite power of images and their ability to change the world. We believe that art should not answer the ultimate questions but instead ask better ones to seek new answers. We believe in ideas before dollars. We believe in revolutionizing the way people interpret art of all mediums and consequently challenging the way they understand themselves and the universe. We believe the best creative process is collaborating with other artists to inspire one another, to make our project bigger than all of us, influencing ideas that can change the way we live our lives. We do not believe we are the only ones who think this way.
Artist Opportunity & Theme
In the Spring of 2012 in NYC, Taxiplasm along with ContaminateNYC will be hosting a performance/art auction at NYC's The Box, featuring live performances including Sean Lennon, Seanna Sharpe and more. The intent of this event is to invite collectors to help us raise money for an epic film project we have been conceptualizing for months inspired by the ferocious music of Colin Stetson with themes of institution, man versus animal and our relationship with the divine. We are inviting emerging visual artists to collaborate with us. We are looking for conceptual artists to showcase work inspired by the audacious power of the music as well as the mythological story of the film. This is an opportunity for us to help each other, to show original work with the attention of the right kind of audience, including a fusion of collectors from the art world as well as patrons in film and music, and what could be more admirable to a collector than for an artist to be philanthropic in one’s own struggling industry? This isn’t about artists simply taking uncompromising direction, I want you to be inspired by the ideas and the music just as much as I have been, and get excited with us!
How It Works
You, the artist, would create a work of art with a primary initial bid. There will be a silent auction to follow where various artists, collectors and trustees will have the chance of bidding on your work with a percentage of the final bid going to benefit the film. With free publicity at a sought-after downtown venue thriving with creative community, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
For all those interested, we would like to arrange a meeting for further discussion to collectively explore all that our film entails. Please contact Elena Avesani of ContaminateNYC to submit artwork, or Claudia Shweky Saide, PR, for event information, and we will provide all the necessary details.
